What starts the action potential?
I always wonder how is AP getting started. For example: while typing my fingers move, muscles are getting "APs" from the brain, but what exactly is a mechanism behind this?
AP's are triggered by stimuli, whether it be a sensory stimulus(like being touched or pinched) or motor stimulus (like initiating a movement). as long as the stimulus intensity reaches "threshold" you will get the maximum response of each individual AP kinda like an all or none law. so a stronger stimulus may trigger more APs but not necessarily a stronger individual APs
